3.4 Advertising and Marketing Cookies
We use Google Ads, through Google Tag Manager, to measure the effectiveness of our advertising. These technologies may be used to:
understand whether you arrived at CookPDF through one of our ads;
attribute subscription purchases to ad clicks (conversion measurement); and
report on and improve the performance of our ad campaigns.
For example, Google's conversion linker stores the ad click identifier from the page address in first-party cookies such as _gcl_au and _gcl_aw.
We also send purchase information to Google from our servers, not only from your browser, as described in “Advertising Partners” in our Privacy Policy. This may include your email address in a hashed (SHA-256) form, never in readable form.
Whether these technologies are active depends on your region and your choices:
in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, they stay off unless you accept advertising cookies;
in the United States, they are on unless you opt out or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal; and
in other regions, they are on unless you opt out using the “Ad preferences” link.

Other cookies or similar technologies may be provided by third-party services integrated with CookPDF (“third-party cookies”).

payment processing;
customer support;
advertising or marketing; and

Third-party providers may process information according to their own privacy and cookie policies.
The third-party services that currently load in your browser on CookPDF are: Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, and Google Ads (subject to your choices, see Section 3); Google Firebase Authentication (sign-in); Airwallex and Paddle (only on checkout pages); and content providers that deliver fonts, software libraries, and images: Google Fonts, jsDelivr, unpkg, cdnjs (Cloudflare), OpenCV, SheetJS, and Unsplash.
5. Payment and Checkout Technologies
CookPDF may integrate payment services such as PayPal, Airwallex, Paddle, or other payment providers displayed during checkout.
These providers may use cookies or similar technologies for purposes including:
payment processing;
authentication;
checkout functionality;
security;
fraud prevention;
transaction management; and
regulatory compliance.
Cookies used directly by payment providers may be controlled by those providers and subject to their own privacy and cookie policies.
Where Paddle acts as Merchant of Record, certain checkout and transaction-related technologies may be operated directly by Paddle.

Persistent cookies, which remain on your device for a defined period or until they are deleted.
The duration of a particular cookie depends on its purpose and the service that provides it.
Where appropriate, CookPDF seeks to retain cookies only for as long as reasonably necessary for their intended purpose.

pdf_editor_lang: CookPDF. Remembers your language. Functional. 1 year.
ga, ga_<ID>: Google Analytics. Distinguishes visitors and sessions. Analytics. Up to 2 years.
gclau: Google Ads. Conversion measurement. Advertising. 90 days.
gclaw, gclgb: Google Ads. Stores the ad click identifier. Advertising. 90 days.
__AWX_*, AWX_*: Airwallex. Payment security and fraud prevention during checkout. Strictly necessary. Up to 1 year.
Paddle cookies: Paddle. Checkout, payment security, and fraud prevention, set only during Paddle checkout. Strictly necessary. Set by Paddle according to its own cookie policy.
Browser storage (local storage, session storage, and IndexedDB)
cookpdf_ad_click_ids (local storage): CookPDF. Stores the Google ad click identifier and information about the visit that followed the ad click (landing page, referring page, browser, and time), so that a later purchase can be attributed to the ad. Saved only if advertising is allowed, and deleted if you turn advertising off. Advertising. 30 days.
pdf_editor_lang (local storage): CookPDF. Remembers your language. Functional. Until cleared.
cookpdf:emailForSignIn (local storage): CookPDF. Remembers the email address you requested a sign-in link for, so the sign-in can be completed. Strictly necessary. Removed when sign-in is complete.
Firebase sign-in data (IndexedDB, for example firebaseLocalStorageDb): Google Firebase. Keeps you signed in. Strictly necessary. Until you sign out.
cookpdf-sessions (IndexedDB): CookPDF. Your in-progress tool session and your most recent result, stored only on your device and never uploaded. Functional. 24 hours for the session and 7 days for the result.
pdf_signatures (local storage): CookPDF. Signatures you choose to save in the PDF editor, stored only on your device. Functional. Until you delete them.
pdfv3:noteDragPos (local storage): CookPDF. Remembers where you placed the notes panel. Functional. Until cleared.
cookpdf:lastResult:<tool> (session storage): CookPDF. Restores your last result if you reload the page. Functional. Until you close the tab.
pdf_editor_paywall_tool, pdf_editor_paywall_source (session storage): CookPDF. Remembers which tool opened the upgrade page. Strictly necessary. Until you close the tab.
cookpdf_compress_variant, cookpdf_ab_session_id (session storage): CookPDF. Records which version of a page you see during a product experiment, and a random identifier for your browser tab that is sent with analytics events. Analytics. Until you close the tab.
10. Global Privacy Control and Similar Signals
Some browsers or devices may provide privacy preference signals, including Global Privacy Control (“GPC”).
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from the United States, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising, and we turn off advertising cookies and advertising measurement for that browser.
Browser “Do Not Track” mechanisms are not interpreted consistently across the internet. We may not respond to all such signals unless required by applicable law.
11. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in:
cookies or similar technologies used by CookPDF;
third-party service providers;
Service functionality;
legal requirements; or
our privacy practices.
The latest version will be published on CookPDF with an updated “Last updated” date.
